I’ve been meaning to look into Inkheart for a long time now.
I don’t know if you’ve read the book “Quest for a Maid” but it’s phenomenal. The main character is a smart and courageous young teenage girl. I would love to read your thoughts on the book, mostly because I can’t say enough good things about the book.
If you scroll to the end of my blog post on mother-daughter book clubs, you’ll find more recommendations, listed by grade level. Not all are girl-centered, but most are. http://loridayconsulting.com/2011/mother-daughter-book-clubs-enrich-reading-and-relationships/
So many great books! I  Anne of Green Gables. I also loved Caddie Woodlawn when I was a girl. I should re-read it now.
I have found that Robin McKinley’s books have fabulous strong female characters. I love ALL her books! She is an excellent storyteller.
This is great! Keep you recs coming. My daughter has no set Inkheart down since last night except when she fell asleep wit the light on.

Can’t wait to hear what you think of The Hunger Games – I absolutely loved it.
Hi Chris,
I’ve heard such great things, I can’t wait! Do you have kids, if so did they read it, and how old were they when they did?
